The idea behind a brand partnership is companies paying you to promote their products or services in your posts. But how can you get paid for promoting on Instagram?
That’s where we come in. We’ve got some insider info that will help you understand what goes into creating a sponsored post—and how you can make sure yours is the best it can be!
Steps to Create A Brand Partnership Instagram Post
I won’t lie—getting paid to post on Instagram is truly amazing. But it takes a lot of work behind the scenes to make it happen.
Pitching for a Brand Partnership
It starts with pitching brands and influencers, so you can reach out to them about a potential collaboration. This might mean writing countless emails, sending out DMs on social media, and even talking to people in person at events or conferences. Once you’ve pitched the brand, they’ll either say yes or no. If they say yes, it’s time to agree on a collaboration!
Agreeing to the collaboration
Once a brand expresses interest in collaborating with you, several additional steps come into play before the actual post goes live. You’ll get your SOW (Statement of Work) which has all the details about what they want from you: what they’ll pay for, how many posts they want (and when), and any other requirements like tagging or linking back to their site in your bio section.
Creating the concept
Let’s move to the next first step: creating the concept. Whether it’s a post about a new product, or a promotion about an upcoming event, having a great concept is the most important part of any campaign. Without it, you have nothing! You’re going to want to think about where you’re going to take the picture, what vibe is important, and what props if any will you need. You’ll also want to decide what time of day you want your picture taken—the lighting will be different depending on whether it’s morning, afternoon, or evening.
Getting ready
Next up is getting ready for your photo shoot! Depending on the complexity of your concept, you may engage in various activities such as getting your hair done at a salon or purchasing new clothes, props, and accessories for yourself or your children (if applicable). The more effort you put into this process, the better! When people can perceive the genuine planning and effort behind your photo shoot, they are more likely to trust that the advertised product or service was meticulously crafted by real individuals who genuinely care.
Take the shot
After all that hard work comes the fun part: taking pictures! When taking pictures for brand partnership posts, make sure they look as professional as possible by using natural light. You capture multiple shots, angles, and looks to achieve that ONE perfect shot. You then edit it and make sure it’s ready for posting.
Caption writing
Ensure to read through the Statement of Work and include all the agreed-upon details in your caption before writing up your post-it!
Submit the work
Start by submitting your work to the brand, so they can review it and make sure it’s perfect. Then, they’ll send it back to you with any edits they want to be made. You’ll make those edits and then send it back to the brand for another review. Once that’s done, it’s time to post!
Time to Post your Brand Partnership
Once approved, you can post your content on behalf of the brand. Make sure you’re following them on Instagram and use the caption feature to add call-to-action directing followers back to their website or social media accounts. Don’t forget to tag them in your post!
