5 Ways to be More Consistent on Social Media in 2021

Be consistent is a phrase that is said often when it comes to social media or is it just me yelling it from the stands. Consistency in anything can be difficult. I believe the saying is that it takes 21 days to make a habit and 90 days to make something a routine. A couple weeks ago on Instagram I asked my community what they were struggling with & over 100 people answered with consistency. I put together the month of January today on January 4th ahah. Last year was quite the year! You can find my best moments here.

Here are a few things I am doing this year to stay consistent

01. Time blocking

One of my biggest struggles is staying on tasks. My friend calls it the shiny object syndrome because I’ll get so distracted that I will forget what I was working on. Last year I started using Sunsama to help me schedule out my day with the times. I definitely feel that it is worth the money ($10 per month). I like to turn on the focus mode and began to work on that one task with breaks in-between. Other free options that I’ve for time blocking include setting a timer on your phone and the click up app.

Make sure to also time block engaging on Instagram, blogging, posting time, and pinning time. If you know how long its going to take you to do a task, you are far much more productive! I am working on timing it all. I know sounds crazy, but its helped me be very productive and creative.

02. Determine when you will post

How many times are you committing to posting on social media channels? It all depends on your goals, social media channel, & where you are in your journey. Once you’ve gotten everything organized it’s important to create a goal to be consistent. This year I want to drive more traffic to my blog, so I will be blogging more consistently. Dare I say it, 5 days a week I will be blogging about lifestyle, living in Germany & all things digital marketing.

Make a goal, right it down and STICK TO IT!

03. Plan ahead

I know easier than said, especially since I am writing a post that I will be pressing publish today. haha. I do have my posts, reels, IG live, blog posts, & pin ideas written down. It can get overwhelming to show up on multiple platforms, so make sure you are staying ahead and planning concepts at minimum.

Whether you have captions in your notes or a planner full of ideas, make sure you are have an idea of that it is you want to post on your social media channels.

04. Repurpose

What if I told you that everyone in community is looking at your content in a different way? Honestly, I love reels & video content, but someone may like the static post or reading a long blog post about a topic. We all consume our content in a different way, which is why repurposing is essential! Last year, I posted consistently and was able to grow my Instagram by 670%. I give some tips in the post!

What does repurposing look like? One thing you can do now to get started is to look at the posts that did well in 2020 and rework them into different types of content!

05. Focus on CREATING

I am guilty of this too. Sometimes you catch yourself endlessly scrolling…. You begin to rethink your page, your content, your direction, your creativity, etc. To prevent this cycle, unfollow anyone that does not bring you joy. If it’s a family member or a sticky situation, you can mute them. Even if its me, you want to follow people that inspire you and minimize the time you spend scrolling. If your goal is to create content for others, let that be your focus!

I turn on notification for the people that I don’t want to miss their content & I set a timer on my phone for times I scroll to help me with my creativity.

You will reach your social media goals! Consistency is KEY! 😉

At the end of the day, I hope these social media tips help you stay on consistent!
