AutoCamp Yosemite

AutoCamp Yosemite

Yosemite has been on my bucket list for quite some time. I haven’t had time to visit because I was gallivanting the world. Once the borders closed, I took 3 months to social distance and needed a vacation, which wasn’t too far away! AutoCamp found me! Thanks to Instagram. I spent days swooning over their Airstreams and the idea of glamping. If you know me, you know I am not a camper. Bugs scare me and the thought of creatures being able to open my tent ahahah. I mean we all have irrational fears! One time in college, I literally cried while stopping for gas because a huge flying beetle flew into my car.  I mean tears rolling down my face like I was injured.

Anywho! After getting time off from work, I was ready to book, but the Airstreams were sold out! So the first thing, I will say is DON’T MISS THE OPPORTUNITY!! If you want to stay in the Airstreams at AutoCamp Yosemite, book right after you get all the deets! Better yet, go book then let me help you make it the best experience! In this post, I will tell you about all things AutoCamp Yosemite. Let’s get started!

Booking:

We booked our trip through Expedia because points ;), but you can book directly on the AutoCamp website!  Booking was easy and there are tons of FAQs on the Autocamp website. AutoCamp has Airstreams, Luxury Tents, & Cabins.

Covid-19:

The most asked question on my Instagram stories was “Is Autocamp COVID-19 safe?” Simple answer: YES.  Autocamp took all precautions and we felt safe the ENTIRE TIME! Prior to our arrival, we got an email notifying us that contact less check in, what to expect and any last minute requests. Contact less check in is basically social distancing on another scale. You have an envelope with the name of a a place that is emailed to you and upon arrival the card was at the front. There were wagons to help with transporting our things. Right next to the wagon was a gallon bucket of wipes for us to wipe down the wagon we were going to use. That made me feel confident that I knew that it was cleaned. None of that “place clean wagons here” because how many people are reading the signs?

We did the indoor check-in because we didn’t receive the email due to us booking through a 3rd party. The points were worth it. Ahaha. The staff always wore masks and gloves when they were going to be touching something they were giving you. I will say as a nurse it was great to see gloves used the CORRECT way! The two-story clubhouse allowed a maximum of 25 guests and everyone had to wear a mask. We were surrounded by a group of rule followers and we LOVED every single minute of it!

Getting to Autocamp

Driving up to Autocamp there were so many twists and turns of the road. I was writing about planning my trip and jamming to music with Robin, my husband. It was so serene! AutoCamp is near the historic town of Mariposa, California. A little town which had a 630 acre of fire in July 16, 2017. Now I say this to also say the weather in Mariposa is VERY different from Yosemite. Make sure you are checking the correct weather, so you don’t end up packing sweaters when you need shorts and tanks! OOPS! Mariposa has cute boutique, shops, some local restaurants and the Pizza Factory, which is popular. Not sure if it was because it was the only place with a sign that read pizza 😉 The pizza was delicious and of course we ordered a large Pepperoni and pineapple pizza! Pineapple BELONGS on pizza!

Autocamp Campus

AutoCamp has a huge sign as you enter, and you can see the Airstreams from the second you make the turn in! The 35 acre lands has 80 Airstreams, 15 luxury tents, & 3 cabin suites & it feels like you’ve entered a whole new world where  fresh air and the great outdoors are sacred! The whole place is a dream boat! As you drive all the way up to the clubhouse, it feels like Joanna Gaines flew to California and gave it a farmhouse industrial vibe!

There are two floors of amazing interior décor and it’s an entire vibe that I cannot wait to experience again! The clubhouse also has a seating area that overlooks the pond, Airstreams and a couple of tents. GLAMPING done all the way RIGHT! On the side of the clubhouse is a very cute pool! The pool reminded me of one of those pools you see on AIRBNB luxe or just a fun boutique resort! We did not get to stay in an airstream this time, but next time we will for sure!

Outside each airstream was a sitting area and a little fire pit. The infamous Tent! The tent has all the WOW factor look I can think of. There was a mirror, fridge, couch, small clothes rack, robes, matches, plates, cups, a Dyson fan and multiple lights and lamps.  Make sure to wear comfortable shoes because you make need to trek to your accommodation.

Luxury Tent

You can stay in a luxury tent April-October! My favorite part of the tent was the vibe! We were outside, but having a king-sized bed, couch, fridge, large mirror and basically a hotel feel. Now friend, you are outside. Which means when booking you should take that into account. If you are going in the heat of summer, your tent will feel like the heat of that summer with a bit of a fan breeze. So, if you aren’t wanting to explore Yosemite, hike, etc, you can chill out by the pool all day! Around 8am it would get pretty warm, so pack and plan accordingly! We made the mistake of looking at the Yosemite weather which is much cooler at night! Let’s just say my biker shorts became my favorite item QUICK! I would pack layers because it does cool down at night but feels amazing with the breeze.

Side note: THE STARS. Every night Robin and I sat near the fireplace and just looked up in amazement. YA’LL it’s the type of stars that you cannot even capture. The stars that you only see with the sky while you listen to your favorite playlist! So the verdict on the tent, it was a fun experience!

When I go back to Autocamp, I will be getting an airstream. Oh, a common question I got was “where do you shower?”

Bathroom

Although we had a tent, the thing I loved the most about AutoCamp was their ability to make the bathroom experience like a hotel. I mean I didn’t expect anything less. The showers were hot, private, and all your bath amenities were there. If you know me, you know the first place I look at in any accommodation is the bathroom. If an establishment thinks out of the box and provides amenities, then my experience is always 10x better. AutoCamp did not disappoint! The bathroom had towels, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, & blow-dryer. Am I the only one that gets annoyed when places have the one in all? Uhhh no thanks! I give this bathroom an 8.9/10. In reference to COVID, there were multiple cleaning times and they are posted on the wall.

Amenities

I talked a bit about the clubhouse and pool. One night after hiking in Yosemite, we came back and played cornhole. If you want to be active, rent a bike! YES, there are bikes you can rent at Autocamp for FREE! Bikes are at a first come first serve basis. We rode around the campus, but there are multiple trails near to check out! There are hiking trails near the area if you want to stay close!

LET’S TALK CONVENIENCE! YARTS shuttle stop is RIGHT outside of Autocamp. What is that? It’s a way to get into Yosemite without the hassle. The bus drives you to multiple stops in Yosemite. Do not hesitate to contact me about more YART info. I will write a blog post on it soon!

What to eat

The fire pits are amazing for breakfast in the morning, fish or steak dinner and a late night smores craving! Smore’s and glamping should go hand in hand wait they do, right? My husband had his first smores on our trip! Yes, his first. He said in Germany, he only had it with a marshmallow and the graham cracker. I GASPED so hard. Ahaha. Don’t feel like going out and shopping for something? The AutoCamp Shop has options for dinner kits. We grabbed salmon, tilapia, shrimp and baked potatoes for dinner one night. We grilled watermelon for a dessert, and I am a fan. If you haven’t tried it, don’t knock it!  My mouth is watering as I type this. SOOOO GOOD! All we had to season was salt and pepper.

We purchased the steak dinner our last night. Their steak was quality. I like my steak medium well and I will say my husband cooked it perfectly! The steak came with starter and dessert for under $70. Of course, we purchased a bottle of Pinot Noir! The fire pit was easy to use. The first day we couldn’t find our matches (complimentary), so someone from the property came to help us. I would suggest bringing your multi-purpose lighter. AutoCamp provides all the utensils and tools needed to for the fire pit. Burning wood is not allowed but they do have alternatives at the AutoCamp shop.

What to pack to go glamping

Here’s what I packed for this trip, you can check out my weekend travel must-haves here.

Traveling to Autocamp with kids

This glamping experience is definitely kid friendly. The whole week we saw children swimming, walking around AutoCamp, playing games, relaxing on the rooftop of the clubhouse and living their best life! I would definitely recommend booking a stay! There are multiple options to ensure you and your children have an amazing stay!

Heres a quick reference I found on the AutoCamp site:

Airstreams: Maximum of 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children per Airstream. Each additional adult over 2 will be charged $25.00 plus taxes per night. Please keep in mind small space living – 3 adults in an Airstream would be a tight fit.

Luxury Tents: Maximum of 2 adults and two children per tent.

X Suites: Maximum of 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children per X Suite. Each additional adult over 2 will be charged $25.00 plus taxes per night.

Cabin: Maximum of 5 adults or 4 adults and 2 children per Cabin. Each additional adult over 4 will be charged $25.00 plus taxes per night.
